Properties of Stars

• We will discuss properties of stars. This includes stellar motions, measuring distances to stars, measuring the surface temperature of stars. Then we will discuss the apparent brightness of stars and their luminosity. This will lead us to introduce the Hertzsprung-Russell diagram next week. [Cf. CM Ch. 17 on the stars.]
