The sun -- and what we need to know to understand it.

• We want to find out a little about the sun. But to do that, let's talk about "scientific notation" for numbers.
• We should also know a little about units of measurement.
• That gets us to the sun and how far away it is, how big it is, what is its mass, what is its density. [Cf. CM Chapter 16, particularly the first section.]
