Set 5 . NOTE: This is due Monday, Feb. 16, 5pm. As
written in my email (10.30am, Feb. 5): "We unfortunately
ended today's class about 3 slides short of the fundamental
relation that you'll need for a lot of Problem Set 5 (the "Carnot
Efficiency"). (I apologize for the poor timing of the
pace.) Of course, you could and should read about this topic
in Chapter 4, the assigned reading. Specifically, read Sections
4.1, .2, .6, and .7. To give more flexibility to those who
would prefer to first see this in class, I am therefore extending
the due date, making PS5 due Monday Feb. 16, 5pm. Note that
this is shortly before the midterm, so it is incumbent on you
to (1) study the PS5 solutions that I will post Monday evening
and (2) ask questions at the start of class Tuesday about anything
that is unclear." Typo fixed: Feb. 10, 2009; also Feb. 11, 2009
