Faculty Position
Experimental Biophysics or Condensed Matter Physics
The Physics Department at the University of Oregon invites applications for a tenure track faculty position in experimental Biophysics or Condensed Matter Physics to start in the 2010-2011 academic year. Applicants must have a PhD in physics or a related discipline and an outstanding record of research accomplishments. The successful candidate will be expected to teach at the undergraduate and graduate levels and to conduct a vigorous research program. Close interaction with groups in other departments, in interdisciplinary research institutes including the Materials Science Institute, the Oregon Center for Optics, and the Institute for Molecular Biology, and in statewide initiatives like the Oregon Nanoscience and Nanotechnology Initiative is encouraged. Opportunities also exist for collaborations with industry, enhanced by the university’s newly constructed micro- and nano-fabrication and materials characterization facilities. We expect to fill this position at the rank of assistant professor. Salary will be commensurate with qualifications and start-up funds will be available.
